Oregon Tech Baja car completes four-hour endurance race
Twenty-six students from Oregon Tech's Baja Racing team traveled to Lebec, Cali., April 25-28 to compete in Baja Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) California, where students test their self-built off-road vehicle for performance and endurance.

TOP students celebrated for high academic achievements
A special Oregon Tech event was held May 10 to celebrate nontraditional students' academic success in the Tech Opportunities Program (TOP). The event honored over 100 students with a 3.30 grade point average or above in fall or winter terms. Oregon Tech TOP is a federally funded TRiO college opportunity program that powers the potential of first-generation students, low-income students, and students with disabilities who demonstrate academic need. In 2023-24, 160 students participated in TOP.

Oregon Tech students compete for $18,000 at Catalyze Challenge; winning teams designed escape room kits and field tourniquet
Nine entrepreneurial student teams from Oregon Tech competed April 24 at the ninth annual Catalyze Klamath Challenge for $18,000 in seed money to turn their product ideas and prototypes into real businesses. The winning concepts are FairPlay Challenge, an education escape room kit, and Ancile Systems, an automatic field tourniquet.

As part of the American Society of Civil Engineers and American Institute of Steel Construction, students from Oregon Tech's Civil Engineering program participated in the Pacific Northwest Student Steel Bridge Competition held April 6 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Oregon Tech student awarded national scholarship for vascular ultrasound
Ashley Christine Melancon, a Vascular Technology student at Oregon Tech, has been selected as a recipient of the Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) Anne Jones Educational Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to students in accredited vascular ultrasound schools in the United States; Melancon is the only grand prize recipient.

Oregon Tech student Cruz Collin part of team awarded 2024 Newcomb Cleveland Prize
Oregon Tech is proud to announce that one of its students, Cruz Tecumseh Collin, is part of an interdisciplinary team that has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Newcomb Cleveland Prize from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The award, which comes with a $25,000 prize, was presented Feb. 16 at the annual meeting of the AAAS.

Environmental Sciences students present research at wildlife conference
Eleven Oregon Tech Environmental Sciences students presented research at the Oregon Chapter of the Wildlife Society (ORTWS) Annual Conference in February. The conference provided a platform for students to present their research and to network and learn about diverse aspects of wildlife conservation and management. Students who presented their findings include Colton Chenault, Makenzie Collier, Mario Gramajo, Alyssa Harris, Patrick Heaney, Jordan Hevern, Nicki Johnston, Riley Ore, Angelina Setka, Dominik Sterling, and Peter Woltjer. Environmental Sciences Director Christy VanRooyen, Natural Sciences Instructor Kerry Farris, and Natural Sciences Professor Jherime Kellermann, Ph.D., were lead research consultants for the projects.

The Oregon Tech Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) honors society proudly welcomed ten students during its 2023-24 induction ceremony on Dec. 2. AED is a national honor society for preprofessional health college students, and the Oregon Tech chapter is the only AED chapter in Oregon.

Oregon Tech Radiologic Science student chosen for national student leadership program
Oregon Tech Radiologic Science junior Callie Brown has been selected to participate in the Student to Leadership Development Program (SLDP) by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), an organization that enhances patient care and safety through education, research, and advocacy. The SLDP is a three-year program designed to identify student leaders in medical imaging and train them to be future leaders in their profession.

Environmental Sciences senior Tanikwah Lang has been chosen to attend and participate in the United Nations (UN) Global Indigenous Youth Forum in Rome, Italy, this month. Lang is a member of the Klamath Tribes and was raised in the Klamath Basin.

The Oregon Tech Honors Program proudly welcomed 13 students during its Induction Ceremony Oct. 14. The event took place in front of a live audience of friends, family, and peers, and was broadcast to a well-attended Zoom audience for those who could not be present in person. The Oregon Tech Honors Program is a prestigious academic program designed for high-achieving students from diverse academic majors. This specialized program offers an interdisciplinary education that equips future leaders and professionals with the skills and knowledge to excel in their careers and lead meaningful lives.

Oregon Tech students return from research gathering in Northern Europe
Two Oregon Tech students, Jaime Kuchle and Tarrah Bickford, embarked on a summer journey to Finland, Sweden, and Iceland to conduct international research. Their work with Associate Professor Sonja Bickford in the undergraduate business research lab, the Business Research (Rural and Arctic) Group, made this opportunity possible.
