Oregon Tech Dental Students Provide Care to Jamaica
Eleven students and two instructors from Oregon Tech's Dental Hygiene program in Klamath Falls traveled to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, this summer to provide dental care to underserved populations in rural areas who have limited or no access to dental care. The trip was part of the International Externship Program (IEP), which provides students the opportunity to travel outside the United States and deliver dental care in nontraditional settings and within new cultures.

Oregon Tech Baja car places 13th in four-hour endurance race
Three students from Oregon Tech's Baja Racing team traveled to Gray Court, South Carolina, Oct. 2-5 to compete in the 50th Anniversary of Baja Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Carolina, where college students test their self-built off-road vehicle for performance and endurance. In addition to ranking in the top 20 overall, Oregon Tech Racing ranked 20th for design, 12th for maneuverability, and placed 13th in the endurance race. The competition included schools such as Johns Hopkins University, Cornell University, University of Michigan, and Purdue University.

Oregon Tech Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technology students Will Duarte and Cody Mueller recently attended the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technologist Section (SNMMI-TS) Future Leaders Academy. The program focuses on increasing the leadership abilities of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging professionals.

Oregon Tech Student Cruz Collin Awarded Prestigious Udall Scholarship
Cruz Collin, a Renewable Energy Engineering and Honors Program student at Oregon Tech, has been selected as a 2025 Udall Scholar and is the recipient of a Udall Undergraduate Scholarship. Collin is the first Oregon Tech student to win this prestigious award and one of only two students from Oregon.

Research Sheds New Light on the Role of Sensors in Advancing Green Building Technology
A student-led research project is gaining interest in the sustainable architecture community with the publication of a peer-reviewed paper exploring the vital role of sensors in the development and operation of green buildings. The paper was presented at the 12th Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Conference on Technologies for Sustainability (SusTech 2025), in Santa Ana, CA., from April 20-23, and is set to appear in the proceedings of the conference.

Oregon Tech student Cruz Collin co-authors horse migration pattern study published in Science journal
Oregon Tech Renewable Energy Engineering and Honors Program student Cruz Tecumseh Collin is a co-author of a research article featured on the cover of the May issue of Science, the peer-reviewed journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The study, "Sustainability insights from late Pleistocene climate change and horse migration patterns," carries important lessons for biodiversity conservation in the face of today's ongoing climate and ecosystem shifts.

Oregon Tech students awarded $19,500 at Catalyze Klamath; winning teams highlight downhill skiing and sustainable golf tees
Eight entrepreneurial student teams from Oregon Tech competed April 24 at the 10th annual Catalyze Klamath Challenge for $19,500 in seed money to turn their product ideas and prototypes into real businesses. The winning concepts are Southern Cascades Resort, a business plan for downhill skiing in Klamath Falls, and ReTee Golf, a sustainable golf tee.

Oregon Tech student Cruz Collin receives $50k grant for sustainable energy system testing
Oregon Tech is proud to announce that Renewable Energy Engineering and Honors Program student Cruz Tecumseh Collin is launching the next phase of a sustainable energy initiative. The original project was started with a 2023 DreamStarter grant for $20,000 from Running Strong for American Indian Youth. The new grant comes with a $50,000 award to build a sustainable energy generation system that utilizes over 99% natural materials in its design.

Oregon Tech students pass Certified SolidWorks Associate exam
Eighteen students at Oregon Tech recently passed the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) exam for Mechanical Design with nine students scoring above 90%. The CSWA exam is considered one of the hardest Mechanical Engineering Certificate exams available; the worldwide passing rate for this exam is around 64%, and the success rate for Oregon Tech students is around 89%.

Radiologic Science students participate in radiologic technology conference
Three faculty and three senior students from Oregon Tech's Medical Imaging Technology programs attended the 50th-anniversary Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technology (ACERT) conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the beginning of February. The event brought together over 850 attendees, including 568 students, to advocate for and advance the medical imaging profession. Two Oregon Tech faculty members and one student presented at the national conference, sharing insights with medical imaging faculty and students from across the country.
